Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, July 4, 2025: In a significant decision aimed at empowering women employees, the Haryana Government has increased the number of casual leaves (CL) for contractual women employees from 10 to 22 days annually.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of women working on contract under various departments of the state. An official notification regarding the decision has been issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, confirming that the new leave policy will apply to all women staff deployed through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited (HKRNL).
Importantly, the 22 days of casual leave will be in addition to the existing 10 days of medical leave, taking the total number of paid leaves to 32 per year for female contractual employees.
Currently, Haryana has around 2.7 lakh regular employees and approximately 1.28 lakh contractual employees in government departments. This decision comes as a major relief for women working on a contractual basis, allowing them to better balance professional responsibilities and family obligations.
The government's initiative has been widely appreciated and is being seen as a progressive step toward ensuring employee welfare and gender-sensitive policies in the state.
