Punjab tops National Education Achievement Survey 2024, sets benchmark in school education

Sangrur (Punjab), July 6, 2025 – In a historic achievement, Punjab has been ranked number one in the country in the field of education as per the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024.
The state has outperformed all others in academic performance across Grade 3, Grade 6, and Grade 9, showcasing the success of its ongoing education reforms.
A major event celebrating this milestone is scheduled to take place today in Sangrur, where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will interact with government school teachers to recognize their efforts in transforming education in the state.
- Top Rank in NAS 2024 in Grades 3, 6, and 9
- 845 government school students qualified for NEET and 265 for JEE Mains
- Teachers and principals sent abroad for training to enhance educational quality
- Districts like Barnala, Malerkotla, Tarn Taran, and Hoshiarpur saw top-ranking performances
- Students in Punjab scored 15–20% higher than the national average in language, mathematics, science, and social science
- In Grade 3, Punjab scored 80 points, beating traditionally strong states like Himachal Pradesh (74) and Kerala (73)
Officials have attributed this success to sustained government initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, teacher training programs, and a renewed focus on quality learning in government schools.
This milestone marks a new chapter in Punjab’s educational journey, positioning the state as a national leader in public school education.
