New Delhi, July 30, 2025: Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang today made a passionate appeal in the Lok Sabha, calling on the central government to rename New Delhi Railway Station, situated near Chandni Chowk, after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur
Speaking during the session, Kang said such a move would serve as a national tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice for religious freedom. He emphasized the symbolic importance of the location—being close to Sis Ganj Sahib Gurudwara, a site historically linked to the Guru’s martyrdom.

“Naming New Delhi Railway Station after Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji would send a powerful message of unity, courage, and religious tolerance,” Kang said, urging the government to honor the Sikh Guru’s legacy at one of the country’s busiest and most historic railway hubs.
This demand also comes at a time when the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has announced a series of events to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Mann stated that Punjab will urge the Union Government to issue a commemorative postal stamp as part of the tribute.
