Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 9, 2025: With just two days left for voting in the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election (Constituency 021), the district administration has gone into full election mode — tightening security, monitoring expenses, and finalizing logistics to ensure free and fair polling on November 11.
In a key development, Election Expenditure Observer Manzarul Hasan (IRAS) conducted the third round of reconciliation of candidates’ election expenditure registers with the shadow registers maintained by the Election Office.
He stressed that the Rs 40 lakh spending limit fixed by the Election Commission must be followed strictly, and that any transaction above Rs 10,000 must be made via cheque or draft only.

Hasan also reminded all candidates to submit their final expenditure reports within 30 days of result declaration or risk being barred from contesting future elections.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rahul (IAS) chaired a high-level meeting with all nodal officers to review final poll arrangements. Campaigning officially ended at 5 PM on November 9, and no rallies or public gatherings are permitted thereafter.
To ensure smooth and peaceful polling, the administration has deployed 12 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) across the constituency.
Every one of the 222 polling stations will be under CCTV surveillance and live webcasting, monitored directly by the District Election Officer, Returning Officer, and Chief Electoral Officer. Additionally, 46 micro observers have been stationed at sensitive polling sites to maintain transparency.
Rahul said a strong room for EVMs has been set up at the International College of Nursing, Piddi, from where polling parties will depart on November 10, and where the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
He appealed to all voters to come forward and cast their votes without fear or hesitation.
The Tarn Taran constituency has 1,92,838 registered voters, including 1,00,933 men, 91,897 women, and 8 third-gender voters, along with 3,333 first-time voters aged 18–19.
