Punjab disburses ₹3,624 crore in welfare funds this year

Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 9, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Tarn Taran, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, on Sunday highlighted the Punjab government’s ongoing social welfare initiatives, saying the state has disbursed ₹3,624.46 crore so far this financial year to support nearly 35 lakh beneficiaries.
Citing data shared by Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, Sandhu said a total of ₹6,175 crore has been earmarked for welfare programmes in 2025–26. Of the funds released, ₹2,400.70 crore was for old-age pensions, ₹693.04 crore for widows and destitute women, ₹242.77 crore for dependent children, and ₹287.95 crore for persons with disabilities.
Sandhu said the figures reflect the government’s focus on inclusive development and welfare-driven governance. He added that efforts are being made to ensure every eligible person in the Tarn Taran constituency receives due benefits under these schemes.
