Sri Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), November 24, 2025:After action was recently taken against the official YouTube channel of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the video-sharing platform has now suspended another major Sikh religious channel.
YouTube has taken down the channel of Bhai Harpal Singh, the Head Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, citing violations of its Violent Criminal Organizations Policy, which prohibits any content that praises, promotes, or supports violent or criminal groups.
YouTube stated that the removed content did not comply with its safety guidelines, explaining that the platform does not allow videos intended to glorify or assist violent extremist or criminal organisations.
According to the platform, the content uploaded by Bhai Harpal Singh was found to be inconsistent with these rules, leading to the suspension of his channel.
Following the suspension, Bhai Harpal Singh expressed strong displeasure through a post on Facebook. Referring to Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, he wrote that while people claim to follow the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, attempts are being made to suppress the voice of truth in the manner of Aurangzeb.
He questioned whether the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji—who defended human rights and religious freedom—is being respected or merely used symbolically, while actions reflect an oppressive mindset.
