Babushahi Bureau
Amritsar (Punjab), December 28, 2025: Sri Akal Takht Sahib has summoned Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, the President and office-bearers of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), and the President of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) to appear before it on January 5, 2026.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Five Singh Sahiban held today at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, issued the summons after deliberations on various matters concerning Sikh principles, maryada (code of conduct), and institutional discipline.
Secretariat in-charge S. Bagicha Singh said that Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh has been asked to appear in person and submit a written explanation regarding certain images prepared at the memorial of Bhai Jiwan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji) at Sri Anandpur Sahib, which were found to be contrary to Sikh principles and sentiments. Although S. Sondh had earlier sought additional time citing the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, he has now been directed to appear at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib on January 5 at 10 am.
Regarding the DSGMC, Bagicha Singh stated that despite clear directions from Sri Akal Takht Sahib prohibiting a special meeting scheduled for October 25, 2025, the DSGMC office-bearers went ahead with the meeting, amounting to a violation of Akal Takht orders. Consequently, the President, General Secretary, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Secretary of the DSGMC have been summoned to present their stand on January 5 at 11 am. He added that the prohibition letter sent via official email was reportedly not received as the DSGMC had closed its email account, and later attempts to deliver the letter by hand were also refused.
In the case of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, Bagicha Singh said that the organisation had earlier been directed to submit clear information specifying which of its members are Amritdhari and which are non-Amritdhari, in line with previous orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. However, the response received was unclear despite sufficient time being granted. As a result, the President of CKD has been directed to personally appear at 10:30 am on January 5 with a detailed list of Amritdhari and non-Amritdhari members.
Sri Akal Takht Sahib reiterated that adherence to Sikh maryada and compliance with its directives is mandatory for all Sikh institutions and office-bearers.
