Ferozepur, January 7, 2026: Continuing its stringent crackdown on anti-social elements and drug trafficking, the Ferozepur District Police has reported significant success under the ongoing "War Against Drugs" (Yudh Nashia Virudh) initiative. In two separate operations, police teams apprehended two individuals, recovering a substantial quantity of "Ice" (Methamphetamine) and several illegal firearms.
Under the supervision of SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, a special team from CIA Staff Zira, led by SI Bohar Singh, was conducting routine patrols and checking the area near the Ferozepur-Moga Road. Acting on a tip from a reliable informant, the team intercepted a suspect near the underbridge turning onto Faridkot Road.
The suspect, identified as Tarsem Singh (alias Sema), son of Saraj Singh and resident of Kale Ke Hithar, was found in possession of 452 grams of ICE - a powerful central nervous system stimulant. That appears as clear, glass-like crystals and is highly addictive. According to police reports, the accused was waiting for customers near the Grain Market area of Ferozepur Cantt. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain.
In a second successful operation, another team from CIA Zira, led by SI Dilbag Singh, apprehended an individual involved in the illegal arms trade. While patrolling near the Valtoha bus stand, the police received specific intelligence regarding a man carrying unauthorised weapons.
The police arrested Sarwan, son of Tarsem and resident of Bharat Nagar, Ferozepur City. Upon searching the suspect, the team recovered 3 Illegal Weapons (Pistols) and 9 Live Cartridges (Rounds).
SSP said a case has been registered under the Arms Act. Preliminary investigations suggest the accused was involved in the illegal supply of weapons within the region. He emphasised that special teams have been deployed across the district to maintain strict vigil and ensure that those disrupting social peace are brought to justice, and reiterated their commitment to the Punjab Government's mission to make the state drug-free.
