Gau Sewa Commission backed camp organised; Rs 25 k medicines for every Gaushala
Ferozepur, January 11, 2026: An Animal Welfare Camp was organised at Gopal Gaushala, Ferozepur Cantonment, under the guidance of Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, and as per the directions of Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari and Dr Parmdeep Singh Walia, Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab,
The camp was held in accordance with the guidelines of the Punjab Gau Seva Commission and was led by Dr Himanshu Siyal, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, with Dr Gurvinder Singh, Senior Veterinary Officer, playing a key role.
During the camp, medicines worth Rs 25,000 were provided free of cost to the gaushala. Nearly 450 animals housed at the gaushala were administered free deworming medication. Dr Himanshu Siyal informed that a total of four such animal welfare camps will be organised in the district, and each gaushala will be provided free medicines worth Rs 25,000. He also shared information about the upcoming LSD (Lumpy Skin Disease) vaccination drive and appealed to the gaushala management to ensure 100 per cent vaccination of animals.
As part of the ongoing series of welfare camps, this camp focused on creating awareness about disease prevention. Dr Gurvinder Singh highlighted the importance of vaccination against Foot and Mouth Disease and Haemorrhagic Septicaemia, urging animal caretakers and farmers to ensure mandatory immunisation. Dr Isha Sekhri educated participants on keeping cattle parasite-free, while Dr Vishal and Dr Shikha spoke about the importance of mineral mixtures for maintaining animal health.
