Chandigarh, January 29, 2026: The Punjab Government has rolled out a state-wide senior citizens’ welfare campaign titled “Sade Buzurg Sada Maan”, under which special health check-up camps will be organised across all districts till February 18, 2026. The complete schedule of district-level camps has been released.
Announcing this, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said the campaign, launched on January 16 in Mohali, aims to ensure healthcare access, social security and dignity for senior citizens. An amount of ₹7.86 crore has been earmarked under the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens for the financial year 2025–26.
Dr Baljit Kaur said the initiative reflects the people-centric approach of the Mann Government, which is committed to the health, security and respectful living of the elderly.
Under the campaign, senior citizens will be provided free comprehensive geriatric check-ups, ENT and eye examinations, and cataract surgeries by specialist doctors. Facilities for Senior Citizen Cards, old-age pension applications and other social security services will also be available at the camps.
She added that ALIMCO will distribute assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids and near-vision spectacles free of cost, while the District Legal Services Authority will spread legal awareness about the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.
Dr Baljit Kaur appealed to families and communities to encourage senior citizens to attend the camps in large numbers to avail the benefits and lead a healthier, dignified life.
