  Chandigarh, March 7, 2026: In a significant welfare decision, the Punjab Cabinet has approved a policy change allowing disabled dependent siblings of unmarried government employees to receive pension benefits in the event of the employee’s death.
  
  The decision was announced by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema during a press conference following the Cabinet meeting. Earlier, such benefits were not available to disabled brothers or sisters who were financially dependent on an unmarried government employee.
