Two-day district-level training held for Census 2027 preparations
Ferozepur, March 7, 2026: To ensure the smooth and successful conduct of Census 2027, a two-day special district-level training programme was organized in Ferozepur on March 6 and 7 as part of the first phase of preparations.
The training was conducted by R.P. Singh, Joint Director from the Directorate of Census Operations, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Kartik Arya, District Coordinator, Ferozepur. During the session, Charge Census Officers and Technical Assistants from the district were given detailed information about the various technical and administrative aspects related to Census 2027.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer Deepshikha Sharma, IAS, also attended the training session.
On this occasion, R.P. Singh informed that the house listing process in Punjab will be carried out from May 15 to June 13, 2026. He added that the facility of self-enumeration will also be available, for which the online portal will remain open from April 30 to May 13, 2026. Through this portal, individuals will be able to enter the details of their families online. He further stated that the entire census process will be conducted through digital mode.
During the meeting, DC Deepshikha Sharma directed all Charge Census Officers, Tehsildars, Executive Officers and Technical Assistants to perform their duties with dedication, responsibility and within the stipulated time. She emphasized that no negligence will be tolerated in the work related to Census 2027.
DCalso appealed to the general public to extend full cooperation to the district administration during the census process and advised them not to share any information with anyone who does not carry a valid identification card.
Among others present on the occasion were SDM Ferozepur Abhishek Sharma, SDM Zira Arvinder Pal Singh, SDM Guru Har Sahai Beant Singh, Deputy ES-cum-Additional District Census Officer Gurinder Singh, along with officials and employees from various departments.
