SAS Nagar (Punjab), March 11, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Komal Mittal, on Wednesday clarified that the supply of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG cylinders in the district remains completely smooth, urging citizens not to fall prey to rumours or indulge in unnecessary stockpiling.
The DC chaired a review meeting through video conferencing with petrol pump dealers, LPG distributors, dealer associations and officials of oil marketing companies to assess the supply situation in the district amid the ongoing geopolitical developments.
During the meeting, officials confirmed that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or domestic LPG cylinders, and adequate stocks are available across the district. Supply through petrol pumps and LPG agencies is continuing regularly without disruption.
Appealing to the public, Mittal urged residents not to believe or spread rumours regarding any shortage of fuel or LPG. She advised citizens to purchase petrol, diesel and book LPG cylinders only as per normal requirements and avoid hoarding.
The DC also warned that strict action will be taken against illegal hoarding or malpractice in the sale of petroleum products or LPG cylinders. Citizens have been asked to immediately report any such activity to the district administration.
Officials also informed that, as per government instructions, the supply of commercial LPG cylinders has been temporarily restricted, though limited exemptions have been granted for essential services such as educational institutions and medical facilities.
Meanwhile, a central-level committee comprising sales directors of three oil marketing companies has been constituted to monitor and ensure the regular supply of commercial LPG cylinders across regions.
The district administration reiterated that the situation remains under control and there is no need for panic buying of fuel or LPG products in Punjab.
