Students learn sustainable living in ‘Kitchen Gardening Workshop’ at Green Carnival
Ferozepur, March 27, 2026: Mayank Foundation organised a hands-on training workshop on kitchen gardening under its flagship environmental initiative, ‘The Green Carnival’, at Kissan Plant Nursery, Ferozeshah.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Project Chairman Kamal Sharma and Deepak Sharma welcomed the dignitaries, guests, and participants.
The technical session was conducted by Pardeep Singh, Horticulture Officer, who highlighted the importance, techniques, and benefits of developing kitchen gardens. A practical demonstration followed, led by Nissan Singh, promoter of Kissan Plant Nursery, along with his team, who explained step-by-step methods for creating and maintaining a sustainable kitchen garden.
Around 125 students from SBS State University and Ferozepur Group of Colleges, along with their faculty members, participated enthusiastically. The students actively engaged in the training and gained practical knowledge to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
The event was graced by Guest of Honour Shivom Vashishat, Managing Director of Ferozepur Group of Colleges, and Harman Singh Sandhu, Principal, who appreciated the efforts of Mayank Foundation in promoting environmental awareness among youth.
As a token of encouragement, all participants were presented with planters to motivate them towards adopting green practices.
The workshop was organised with the support of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.
