Tragedy in Sultanpur Lodhi: Family loses 5th son to drug abuse

Sultanpur Lodhi (Punjab), April 8, 2026 – A devastating drug-related tragedy has struck a family in the Pandori area of Sultanpur Lodhi. The family is preparing for the funeral of their fifth and final son today, leaving relatives in deep grief.
The deceased has been identified as Sonu, son of Manjit Kaur. According to family members, four of their sons had previously died due to drug addiction, and the death of Sonu has left the family completely shattered. The mother and other family members are mourning intensely.
Earlier, a video of Manjit Kaur crying went viral on social media, prompting authorities to intervene. Sonu was immediately admitted to a hospital, but he passed away during treatment in Amritsar.
Police officials stated that investigations into the causes of the deaths are ongoing. However, the grieving mother insists that drug abuse was the root cause of all her sons’ deaths.
Manjit Kaur has appealed to the Chief Minister for a government job to help her rebuild her life and sustain her family. She also called for strict action against drug traffickers, urging authorities to prevent similar tragedies from affecting other families.
