Punjab IAS officer Alaknanda Dayal appointed as Joint Secretary at Centre

Chandigarh, April 15, 2026: Alaknanda Dayal has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, following approval by the competent authority.
A 2000-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, Dayal will assume the role for a tenure of five years from the date of taking charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
She replaces Ajay Gupta, who was serving as Commissioner of Payments at the Joint Secretary level in the ministry.
