President Droupadi Murmu begins 5-day Himachal visit, receives a grand welcome in Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), April 27, 2026:President Droupadi Murmu on Monday arrived in Shimla, marking the beginning of her five-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, where she was accorded a warm and ceremonial welcome.
The President landed at Kalyani Helipad in Chharabra, near Shimla, where she was received by Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who greeted her on behalf of the people of the state.
Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh—designated as Minister-in-Waiting for the visit—Member of Parliament Suresh Kumar Kashyap, Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, and senior officials from the state administration and armed forces.
During her stay, the President is scheduled to participate in several official engagements across the state as part of her five-day tour.
