Railway earns Rs 3.75 Cr revenue from over 50K timeless passengers during April
Ferozepur, May 4, 2026:
The Ferozepur Railway Division intensified its ticket checking drives during April 2026 to curb unauthorized travel in trains. As a result, a total of 51,839 passengers were found travelling without tickets or with irregular tickets during inspections conducted by ticket checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors. An amount of approximately ₹3.75 crore was collected as penalty from these passengers.
The division recorded a 14 percent increase in revenue from ticket checking during April 2026 as compared to the same period last year, reflecting stricter enforcement and improved monitoring.
In addition to ticket checking, regular inspections were also carried out at major railway stations to maintain cleanliness and discourage littering. During the month, 388 passengers were penalized under the Anti-Littering Act for spreading garbage within station premises, resulting in a fine collection of over ₹58,000.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar stated that such ticket checking drives will continue in the Ferozepur Division. He emphasized that the primary objective of these drives is to improve ticket sales and ensure that passengers travel with valid tickets, while also discouraging ticketless travel through strict penalties.
