  Chandigarh, May 5, 2026: Punjab Government will begin first ever Drug & Socio-Economic Census in the state. Through this census government wants to improve welfare planning.
  
  Objective of the Census is to assess the extent and impact of drug abuse, to understand social and economic conditions of the households and to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of government schemes to ensure better delivery of welfare benefits.
