Chandigarh, May 6, May 2026: Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led government, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order in Punjab and demanding the Chief Minister’s immediate resignation following recent explosions in the state.
Condemning the Chief Minister’s remarks on the blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar, Jakhar termed them “irresponsible” and said the government had failed to ensure security. He argued that while the state police leadership has pointed towards the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI, the Chief Minister was making politically motivated statements that could mislead the public.
In a social media post, Jakhar said the incidents near sensitive installations such as BSF and Army areas raise serious concerns about the state’s security preparedness. He alleged that such occurrences have been on the rise since the AAP came to power.
Jakhar further claimed that governance was being compromised for political reasons and warned that using state machinery for political purposes could weaken overall security. He also questioned the Chief Minister’s leadership, stating that Punjab, being a sensitive border state, requires experienced governance.
The BJP leader urged Arvind Kejriwal to reconsider leadership in Punjab, saying the current situation was not in the national interest. He asserted that the BJP would continue to hold the government accountable and explore all legal options on the issue.
Jakhar added that public confidence in the government has eroded, alleging that people feel increasingly unsafe under what he described as an “inexperienced administration.”
