Food Safety teams collect milk, cheese samples; Warning against adulteration
Ferozepur, May 12, 2026: A team led by District Health Officer Dr. Amarveer Sidhu conducted inspections at various dairies in Ferozepur city and collected samples of milk and paneer to check food quality and safety, following the directions of Food Commissioner Kanwal Preet Brar.
The Food Safety team, comprising Food Safety Officer Dr. Sarabjit Kaur along with members Gurinder Singh and Shivam Midha, collected a total of eight samples of milk and paneer. The samples were sealed in the presence of witnesses and sent to the State Laboratory for testing.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi stated that the government has adopted a strict approach towards food safety keeping public health in mind. She said the Health Department is committed to ensuring adulteration-free food for the public and warned adulterators against indulging in such illegal activities.
Earlier in May, under his supervision, food safety teams had also set up checkpoints at various locations early in the morning and collected six milk samples as part of the “Zero Tolerance Against Adulteration” campaign. These samples were sent to the laboratory at Kharar for quality testing.
Giving details, Dr. Amarveer Sidhu said that strict legal action would be taken against the concerned dairy owners if any sample fails the prescribed standards. Dr. Sidhu further informed that surprise inspections and sampling drives would continue in the city in the coming days as well.
Health experts said that food adulteration can pose serious health risks, including stomach infections, food poisoning, liver and kidney damage, and long-term diseases. Consumption of adulterated milk products may especially affect children, elderly people, and those with weak immunity. Authorities urged people to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of food adulteration to the Health Department.
