Ferozepur cops trace attempt-to-murder case within 72 hrs, arrest 5 accused
Ferozepur, May 12, 2026: Ferozepur Police have solved the sensational attempt-to-murder case involving a property dealer within three days and arrested five accused persons involved in the attack. Police have also recovered weapons allegedly used during the crime, including two motorcycles, two sharp-edged weapons, one kirch and one grinder.
Addressing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that under the directions of the Punjab Government and Director General of Police, Punjab, strict action is being taken against anti-social elements under a zero-tolerance policy.
The SSP said that on May 4, unidentified assailants attacked property advisor Ranjit Singh, a resident of village Peer Ahmad Khan, at his office situated in Diamond Enclave Colony on the link road connecting Nizamdin Basti and Zira Road. Following the statement of complainant Resham Singh, father of the victim, a case was registered at Kulgarhi police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police investigations revealed that victim Ranjit Singh and main accused Akashdeep Singh alias Akash were partners in a real estate venture and had jointly developed Diamond Enclave Colony. According to police, a dispute had arisen over payment of nearly Rs 1.45 crore related to land ownership and settlement. Out of the agreed amount, around Rs 20 lakh had reportedly been paid, while the remaining amount was allegedly being withheld.
During investigation, police found that the main accused, along with his associate Sukhchain Singh alias Shera, allegedly conspired to eliminate Ranjit Singh to avoid making the remaining payment. The accused allegedly lured other accomplices by promising them residential plots and carried out the attack on May 4.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of SP Investigation Manjit Singh and DSP Rural Karan Sharma, while Inspector Jaswinder Singh, SHO Kulgarhi, led the operational investigation team.
Police have identified six accused in the case. Those arrested include Akashdeep Singh alias Akash, Sukhchain Singh alias Shera, Channa alias Billa alias Mota, Akash alias Babba and Jora, in the age group of 20-38 years. One accused is still absconding and efforts are underway to arrest him, police said.
