Big News: 21 HPS Officers Promoted to IPS, List Released
UPSC has released the promotion list for the years 2021 to 2025; 21 officers have been promoted; Sumer Singh and Tanya Singh have received provisional promotions.

Chandigarh, May 21, 2026 — A wave of celebration swept through the Haryana Police administration when 21 senior officers of the Haryana Police Service (HPS) were promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. Based on the selection lists prepared by UPSC for the years 2021 to 2025, official orders promoting these officers to IPS rank have been issued.
One of the most notable names on the list is former captain of the Indian women’s hockey team, Mamta Kharab, who has now become an IPS officer in Haryana Police.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, during an important meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), the names of 29 HPS officers were considered for promotion, out of which 21 officers received final approval.
Among the 21 promoted officers, Sumer Singh and Tanya Singh have been granted promotion on a provisional basis for the time being.
According to information received, disciplinary proceedings are pending against Sumer Singh, whose name appeared in the selection lists for four years. Similarly, departmental proceedings are also pending against woman officer Tanya Singh. Therefore, both officers have been included in the list provisionally.

Sumer Singh, Dhyan Singh Punia, Rajkumar Walia, Tahir Hussain, and Rajesh Kumar.

Sumer Singh and Ravinder Kumar.

Sumer Singh, Narinder Singh, Vijay Singh, and Siddharth Dhanda.
