Himachal: HRTC bus staff assaulted, Govt bus vandalized in Nalagarh; FIR lodged

Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh), May 25, 2026 — Police have registered a case after an alleged assault on an HRTC bus driver and conductor and vandalism of a government bus in Himachal Pradesh’s Nalagarh.
According to the complaint filed at the Nalagarh Police Station, the incident took place on May 23 when an HRTC bus bearing registration number HP-64-7440 was travelling on its designated route. The complaint was lodged by Amar Chand, a resident of Kangra district, and Sumit Sharma, also from Kangra.
As per the complaint, the bus driver overtook a car near the Bagwani area, which allegedly angered the occupants of the vehicle. The accused reportedly called additional associates to the spot, who arrived in another vehicle.
The complainants alleged that after crossing Kheda, the accused intercepted the HRTC bus and physically assaulted both the driver and the conductor, causing serious injuries to them.
The attackers also allegedly damaged the government vehicle by scratching the front windshield and breaking the driver-side window, leading to damage to public property.
During the incident, the bus driver immediately contacted the police helpline by dialling 112. Police teams reached the spot soon after and shifted the injured employees to the Community Health Centre in Nalagarh for medical examination.
Police have registered FIR No. 156 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 132, 126(2), 121, 118(1), along with Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
Authorities said the matter is under detailed investigation and efforts are underway to identify and take action against all those involved.
The injured driver and conductor have demanded strict action against the accused to prevent such incidents in the future.
