Actress Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu bereaved, husband and veteran journalist Swaran Singh Bhanghu passes away

Rupnagar (Punjab), June 4, 2026: Veteran journalist, educationist and social worker Swaran Singh Bhangu passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of public service and fearless journalism. He was the husband of noted Punjabi actress Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu.
A resident of Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Bhangu was widely respected in journalistic circles for his long association with the Punjabi daily Ajit, where he served as the in-charge of the newspaper's Ropar sub-office. He was also the Director of Kang Memorial Academy, Bassi Gujjran, and remained actively involved in educational and social initiatives.
Known for his fearless writing and commitment to social causes, Bhangu dedicated much of his career to highlighting the concerns of underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. Colleagues and associates remember him as a man of integrity, simplicity and compassion who consistently worked for the welfare of the needy.
