Breaking: Policeman dismissed from service in Punjab

SAS Nagar (Punjab), June 14, 2026: In a major disciplinary action, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans has dismissed a senior constable from service, reinforcing Punjab Police's zero-tolerance policy against indiscipline and unlawful activities.
The dismissed officer has been identified as Jivandeep Singh (No. 2061/SAS Nagar). The action follows the registration of an FIR against him at IT City Police Station, SAS Nagar.
According to police officials, FIR No. 51 dated June 3, 2026, was registered under Sections 304(1), 126(2), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.
SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans stated that the Punjab Government and Punjab Police remain committed to a strict zero-tolerance approach towards any involvement of police personnel in illegal activities.
He emphasized that disciplinary action will continue to be taken against officers found violating the law, adding that maintaining integrity, accountability, and professionalism within the police force remains a top priority.
The SSP further said that no individual, regardless of rank or position, would be spared if found involved in unlawful conduct.
