Punjab needs BJP for growth, MSP security, and jobs: Haryana CM Nayab Saini
Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, June 20, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said that Punjab’s rapid development is possible under a “double-engine government,” asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains committed to strengthening the state through welfare measures, employment opportunities and support for farmers.
Addressing a delegation of the Namdev Samaj from Sri Hargobindpur in Gurdaspur district at Sant Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh, Saini said that while many young people in Punjab are being forced to seek employment abroad through illegal migration routes, Haryana has created structured overseas employment opportunities through its Foreign Cooperation Department.
He said more than 5,500 applications from youth seeking jobs abroad are currently under review by the department. Under the initiative, candidates are required to bear only the cost of their air travel, while other support is facilitated through the government.
Paying tribute to Guru Hargobind, the Chief Minister said the Sikh Guru’s teachings continue to inspire people to stand against injustice and protect the vulnerable. He stressed that these values remain relevant in contemporary society.
Expressing concern over Punjab’s development, Saini alleged that successive governments in the state, including those led by the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), had failed to meet public expectations. He claimed that people in Punjab were increasingly looking towards the BJP and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership ahead of the next Assembly elections.
Targeting the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, Saini said the promise of providing ₹1,000 per month to women had not yet been fulfilled. In contrast, he highlighted Haryana’s Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, under which eligible women receive ₹2,100 per month directly in their bank accounts.
According to the Chief Minister, the Haryana government allocated ₹5,000 crore for the scheme in the 2025–26 budget and ₹6,500 crore in the 2026–27 budget. He said nearly ₹1,600 crore has already been disbursed to women beneficiaries across the state.
Saini also compared social welfare measures in the two neighbouring states, stating that senior citizens in Haryana receive ₹3,200 per month under the Old Age Samman Allowance, while pension beneficiaries in Punjab receive ₹1,500 per month.
Highlighting Haryana’s development and welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said that if Punjab voters place their trust in the BJP in the next Assembly elections, similar benefits could be extended to the state. He promised that a BJP government in Punjab would ensure procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), provide compensation for crop losses, encourage industrial growth and work towards restoring Punjab’s position as one of India’s leading states.
Members of the Namdev Samaj delegation thanked the Chief Minister for engaging with the people of Punjab and appreciated his outreach efforts. They expressed confidence that the BJP would strengthen its presence in the state in the coming elections.
