New Delhi, June 20, 2026: The Punjab government has directed all departments to compile detailed information on women employees posted beyond a 40-kilometre radius from their homes as part of a proposed policy aimed at improving work-life balance.
According to an official communication issued by the Government of Punjab’s Department of Personnel (Personnel Policies-II Branch), the exercise will cover Group-B, C and D category women employees, including staff nurses, teachers, women police personnel and other cadres.
The departments have been asked to identify employees posted away from their parental or marital homes after completion of probation and provide detailed information regarding their current postings and residential locations.
The data has been sought in a prescribed format, which includes employee name and designation, group category, place of posting, home address (parental or marital), approximate distance between residence and workplace, and probation status.
All administrative departments have been instructed to compile the information from their respective offices and submit it to the Personnel Department by June 25, 2026, through email, marking the exercise as urgent.
Officials said the exercise is intended to create a comprehensive database that will help assess the feasibility of posting women employees within closer proximity to their homes, particularly in cases where long-distance postings affect commuting, safety, and family responsibilities.
