Breaking News: Abohar Municipal Corporation Mayor Elections Postponed at the Eleventh Hour

ABOHAR, JULY 10, 2026: In a major political development emerging from Abohar, the local Tehsildar, Navjeevan Chhabra, has officially announced the postponement of the Abohar Municipal Corporation mayoral elections, which were scheduled to take place today, July 10, 2026. The process has been deferred until further notice.
According to available inputs, all preparations for the election of the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor had been completed, and heavy security forces were deployed at the venue. However, tension flared as BJP workers and local residents gathered outside the Municipal Corporation office to stage a massive protest, accusing the administration of bias and mounting intense pressure.
Sensing the volatile situation and growing public backlash, the Election Officer-cum-Tehsildar Navjeevan Chhabra decided on the spot to halt the voting process and defer the elections to a later date.
