Breaking: Bomb threat to Haryana Secretariat during PM Modi’s visit, building evacuated

Chandigarh, July 17, 2026: The Haryana Secretariat was evacuated on Thursday after authorities received a bomb threat during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jind, where he inaugurated India's first hydrogen-powered train.
According to sources, the bomb threat prompted an immediate evacuation of the Secretariat building as police and security agencies rushed to the spot and launched a comprehensive search operation.
Officials said security was tightened across the premises following the threat. Bomb disposal squads and other emergency response teams were deployed to thoroughly inspect the building.
Sources said the Haryana Secretariat has received similar bomb threats on several occasions in the past. However, authorities are treating the latest threat with utmost seriousness in view of the Prime Minister's visit and heightened security concerns.
No suspicious object had been recovered at the time of filing this report. Police were continuing search and sanitisation operations, while an investigation has been launched to trace the origin of the threat.
Officials are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident.
