GRP, RPF conduct major search operation at Railway Stations ahead of Independence Day

Ferozepur, July 31, 2026: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and in view of the proposed visit of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to Ferozepur for the state-level Independence Day function, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted an extensive search and passenger awareness operation at Ferozepur Railway Station on Friday.
The operation was carried out under the directions of the Special DGP, GRP, Patiala, and the Zonal DSP, GRP, Ferozepur, with the objective of ensuring the safety and security of railway passengers and strengthening security arrangements ahead of August 15.
Teams of GRP Police Station Ferozepur and RPF, along with a railway sniffer dog squad, thoroughly checked various parts of the railway station, including platforms, trains, waiting areas, motorcycle parking, entry gates and other vulnerable points. Suspicious persons and objects were also carefully screened.
Officials said that no suspicious person or objectionable or unattended item was found during the checking.
During the operation, passengers were also sensitised about the importance of remaining vigilant. They were advised to immediately inform the nearest GRP or RPF personnel if they notice any suspicious person, object or unattended baggage at the railway station or on a train.
The security operation assumes added significance as Ferozepur is set to host the state-level Independence Day celebrations, for which Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visit has been proposed. Security agencies are expected to maintain heightened vigilance at railway and other key public places in the run-up to the national event.
