New Delhi, August 10, 2026: Amid speculation over a possible alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab, Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said that joining hands would not help either party politically.
Reacting to questions over a possible BJP-SAD alliance, Warring said that the people of Punjab would not forgive either party, regardless of whether they formed an alliance or joined hands with other political forces.
“Even if both form an alliance or bring someone else along, it will be of no use. There was a time when the Akali Dal raised issues in the interest of Punjab. Now both parties want to fight for their existence in Punjab again,” Warring said.
He further said that whether the two parties came together or adopted any other political strategy, it would not change their standing among the people.
“Whether they unite or do something else, people will not forgive them. I think neither of them is going to benefit,” the Congress leader said.
