Chandigarh: Girls College students celebrate 80th Independence Day, pledge to contribute to Viksit Bharat; View Pics

Chandigarh: August, 15,2026: Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh celebrated the 80th Independence Day on the theme 'Viksit Bharat,' which aligns with the Indian government's vision to transform the nation into a developed country by 2047, the centenary of independence. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college, hoisted the National Tricolour. Members of the teaching and non-teaching faculty and students attended the ceremony.
Students of the Department of Music (Instrumental) showcased their talents by performing heartfelt patriotic melodies, while the students of Music (Vocal) department sang stirring medleys and harmonious group songs, all resonating with a strong sense of national pride.
Students also shared their perspectives on freedom passionately, intertwining narratives of unsung heroes' courage and sacrifices. Students marched in the campus carrying the Tricolour with Vande Matram on their lips.
A quiz on Indian freedom struggle was also organised. Students from Fine Arts department displayed colourful posters on the theme Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the faculty and students on this occasion, Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal, observed that freedom was earned through extraordinary sacrifices, resilience and unyielding courage.
She stated that India is experiencing Amrit Kaal -A Golden Era and making a quantum leap towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.
She added that the vision of Viksit Bharat is no longer just a government target, it is a collective national movement and Nari Shakti is at the core of this great transformation.
She advised the students to become torchbearers of transformation and custodians of New India. She motivated them to never cease to learn, remain updated; strive for creativity and to work tirelessly to build a drug-free, strong, united and prosperous Viksit Bharat. A tree plantation drive was also organised.
