Patiala (Punjab), August 21, 2026: The Misl Satluj Party on Friday extended its strong support to the Punjab bandh call given by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha over the release of Bandi Singhs and other demands. The party also organised a peaceful protest rally in Patiala, led by its candidate from the Patiala Rural Assembly constituency, Manjit Singh Chahal.

Addressing the gathering, Chahal demanded that the Bandi Singhs be recognised as political prisoners and released immediately. He said the issue of their release was not limited to any particular community or organisation, but was closely linked to human rights, justice and the rule of law.
Chahal said keeping prisoners in jail for prolonged periods even after they had completed their sentences was not in accordance with the fundamental principles of justice. He urged both the Punjab and Central governments to adopt a humane and compassionate approach towards the cases of Bandi Singhs and immediately release those who are legally eligible for release.

He also called for a clear and just policy on cases involving individuals who have remained incarcerated for long periods, saying that the governments must ensure that decisions are taken in accordance with principles of justice and law.
Chahal said the Misal Satluj Party would continue to raise its voice through democratic and peaceful means on issues concerning the rights of the people of Punjab and other legitimate demands.
He said the purpose of Friday’s protest rally was not to create confrontation but to convey the people’s concerns to the governments and demand a just decision on the release of Bandi Singhs.

Appealing to the people of Punjab, Chahal urged them to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood while raising their legitimate demands through democratic means.
The Misal Satluj Party reiterated its full support for the campaign seeking the release of Bandi Singhs and said it would continue to raise the issue on democratic platforms until justice is delivered.
