Mrs. Varsha Sharma, IPS, AGMUT cadre, 2010 batch, has been transferred from her present assignment as Additional Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Delhi, and posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Varsha Sharma is a 2010-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre and has held several important assignments during her career in the police and administration. Her transfer to the office of the Lieutenant Governor assumes significance, as the OSD assignment involves close coordination on matters relating to the functioning of the LG Secretariat and various administrative and governance-related issues.
She was serving as Additional CP, Economic Offences Wing, one of the specialised units of Delhi Police dealing with cases involving financial frauds, cheating, forgery, large-scale economic offences and other complex financial crimes. The assignment at EOW requires extensive experience in investigation, supervision and coordination in sensitive and high-value cases.
Her new posting as OSD to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi places her in an important administrative role at the LG Secretariat. The position is expected to involve coordination with senior government officials, Delhi Police and other agencies on matters requiring close administrative and institutional coordination.
The transfer is being viewed as an important responsibility for the senior IPS officer, given the nature of the assignment and its interface with the senior-most levels of Delhi's administrative and security establishment.
With her experience in policing as well as specialised assignments, Varsha Sharma is expected to bring her administrative and organisational experience to her new role. Her posting also comes at a time when effective coordination between the Delhi Police, civil administration and the LG Secretariat remains crucial for ensuring smooth governance and implementation of various government initiatives.
The transfer of the 2010-batch IPS officer is part of the continuing process of administrative postings within the AGMUT cadre, under which experienced officers are assigned responsibilities in key policing and administrative positions.
