Bathinda, September 2:
Senior IPS officer Suhail Kasim Mir on Wednesday took charge as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bathinda, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase for the district police at a crucial time when effective crime control and public confidence remain key challenges.
Mir formally assumed charge at the district police headquarters and was briefed by senior officers on the prevailing law-and-order situation, crime scenario and policing priorities in Bathinda.
The new SSP is expected to place strong emphasis on curbing criminal activities, maintaining law and order, strengthening police visibility and ensuring a prompt response to complaints from the public.
After taking charge, Mir held discussions with senior police officials and reviewed important policing issues confronting the district. He also stressed the need for professional, accountable and people-oriented policing.
The assumption of charge by Mir comes with expectations that the Bathinda police will adopt a more proactive approach towards crime prevention, particularly against organised criminal activity, drug-related offences and other threats to public safety.
The SSP also underlined the importance of coordination among police units and effective field-level policing to ensure that the force remains responsive to the needs and concerns of citizens.
With Mir at the helm, the Bathinda police administration now faces the task of strengthening law-and-order mechanisms while simultaneously improving public trust and ensuring a safer environment across the district.
