Railway detects 24,434 ticketless travellers in August, recovers Rs 2.17 Cr
Ferozepur, September 2, 2026: The ticket checking staff of Ferozepur Division detected 24,434 passengers travelling without tickets or with irregular tickets during a special checking drive conducted across trains in August 2026, recovering more than Rs 2.17 crore as penalty.
Railway has been conducting continuous ticket checking drives to curb unauthorised and ticketless travel and to ensure a comfortable journey for bona fide passengers.
According to Basant Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Northern Railway, Ferozepur, ticket checking squads carried out regular inspections on trains throughout August, resulting in the detection of thousands of passengers travelling without valid tickets or in an irregular manner.
Apart from ticket checking, regular inspections were also conducted at major railway stations in the division to maintain cleanliness and discourage passengers from littering station premises.
During August, action was taken against 166 passengers for littering under anti-littering provisions, and more than Rs 69,000 was recovered as fines.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar said that the ticket checking campaign would continue across the Ferozepur Division. He said the primary objective of the campaign was to provide safe and comfortable travel facilities to genuine passengers and ensure that authorised travellers do not face inconvenience due to unauthorised or ticketless passengers. He appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets and help maintain cleanliness at railway stations.
