In Kharar, Sukhbir Badal highlights 3 cases in 3 days of custodial torture ~ lashes out at CM for misusing ‘green pen’ to silence Punjab
SAD President taunts Kejriwal ~ says he has rewarded corruption and controversy (Bibhav & Rajbir Ghuman elevated to AAP National Executive)
Chandigarh/ Kharar, September 10, 2026 :Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said chief minister Bhagwant Mann was using his self proclaimed “green pen” for loot and torture with the latest incident of a youth consuming poison in despair after being tortured in the Dhuri police station in the chief minister’s constituency reflecting how Punjab had been turned into a police State.
The SAD president was addressing a massive gathering of thousands of enthusiastic party workers here along with Kharar halka incharge Ravinder Singh Khera during the course of which he promised the constituency would be developed in a holistic manner once the SAD took over the reins of the State with Nawa Gaon being included in New Chandigarh and new projects like a race course and a wildlife safari taking ground.
Asserting that the latest incident followed a spate of cases of torture and suicide in Sheron and Toor Banjara villages in which two persons were tortured for showing a black flag to the chief minister and for questioning finance minister Harpal Cheema on the rampant sale of drugs in the State, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “this is the change AAP has brought into Punjab politics”.
The SAD president while shaming the chief minister for brandishing a ‘hara pen’ while claiming it would bring in a revolution by being used for public good, said “all this green pen has done is silence the voice of dissent and loot the resources of the State”. He said today again in a shocking incident, the Punjab Police had tortured a youth – Chamkaur Singh to such an extent in Dhuri that he consumed a poisonous substance in police lock up.
Badal said even as all this was happening, Bhagwant Mann was indulging in lies and mimicry in fake ‘lok milni’ programmes and strutting around on stages in an inebriated condition as had happened at Ghudda village recently. “Simultaneously he is also handing over clean chits to thugs, drug lords and even rapists as had occurred recently with evidence revealing his wife Gurpreet Kaur Mann had taken a bribe of Rs five crore to let off a serial rapist from police custody”. He said the manner in which the chief minister had inducted a gangster – Gurpreet Singh Sekhon into AAP and made him halka incharge of Zira despite the fact that the latter had 50 criminal cases pending against him revealed his true stand on tackling gangsters. He announced that SAD would tackle the menace of gangsters and drugs once it came to power by enacting special laws which would allow seizure of their properties and a minimum jail term of twenty years.
Asserting that the chief minister was also behind propping up Waris Punjab De, Badal said “Bhagwant Mann is giving money to this outfit. He has also deputed a senior officer of the Mandi Board for this purpose and all offices and facilities of the Board are being used by the outfit for its political activities. He said while the purpose behind this was to divide Panthic votes to help AAP, he asked Punjabis if they wanted a return of the era of bloodshed and wanted the lives of their children and their near and dear ones in danger again. “You need to know this outfit is actually ‘Virus Punjab De’ and not Waris Punjab De”, he added.
Later while talking to newsmen, the SAD president when queried about the induction of the CM’s OSD Rajbir Ghuman and Advisor Bibhav Kumar as members of the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) said “these dacoits have been given these posts as they are the money collection agents of Arvind Kejriwal”. He also condemned the manner in which the family of Gulzar Singh, who had committed suicide after being harassed for questioning minister Harpal Cheema on rampant availability of drugs, had been pressured to conduct his cremation. “Now the family has come out openly against the AAP government and wants justice for Gulzar Singh. Since the victim had given a dying declaration against Harpal Cheema, a case would have to be registered against him”. He also junked the recent summons issued to him by the SIT as another attempt to politicize the issue of sacrilege and divide the attention of the people.
Earlier in the rally, Badal announced that all farmers who did not have a tubewell connection would be given the same when the SAD formed a government in the State. He said beneficiaries would be given 50 kg wheat at Rs four per kg under the ‘aata-daal’ scheme and that the Shagun benefit would be increased to Rs one lakh and the old age pension to Rs 3,100 per month. He also announced that Punjabis would be given ownership rights for all houses in the ‘lal dora’ of villages.
Senior leaders who spoke on the occasion included Balwinder Singh Bhundar, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, N K Sharma, Parvinder Singh Sohana and Ajmer Singh Khera.
