Ravan Sena Mission observes two-hour ROB blockade to register protest over Ambedkar statue desecration
Ferozepur, September 14, 2026: On a call from Ravan Sena Mission Ambedkar led by National Head, Deep Dashanand, the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) connecting Ferozepur City and Cantonment was blocked for two hours on Monday, from 9 am to 11 am, to register register anger over the alleged desecration of a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Ludhiana.
The demonstration brought traffic on the bridge to a standstill as protesters staged a sit-in and raised slogans against those responsible for the incident. The protest had originally been planned for September 16, but organisers decided to hold it a day earlier, on the 14th, as a peaceful show of dissent.
The blockade disrupted traffic movement on the bridge for the duration of the protest, causing inconvenience to commuters and the general public before normalcy was restored around 11 am.
Speaking on the occasion, Deep Dashanand said the demonstration was a direct response to the alleged tampering with Dr. Ambedkar's statue in Ludhiana, and criticised the Ludhiana administration for failing to arrest the accused so far. He said the two-hour road blockade was staged specifically to press for swift action against the culprits.
Protesters demanded that the Ludhiana administration treat the matter with seriousness and ensure the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in desecrating the statue. They warned that if no action was taken soon, they would continue to register their protest through further demonstrations.
The Ferozepur protest came even as anger over the Ludhiana incident continued to simmer across Punjab. Earlier, a complete bandh had been observed in Jalandhar, called by Ambedkarite and Dalit organisations, religious groups and social bodies.
Activists in the state had also been demanding stringent action against the culprits, better security arrangements at statues of Dr. Ambedkar and other prominent personalities, and the installation of CCTV cameras at sensitive public locations to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
