Breaking: Punjab Roadways contract workers postpone Sept 22 strike

Chandigarh, September 21, 2026: Contract workers of Punjab Roadways and Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) have postponed their proposed strike scheduled for September 22 following a meeting with Punjab Transport Department Secretary.
A lengthy meeting between the Transport Secretary and union leaders was held at the Chandigarh Civil Secretariat, following which the union decided to defer the strike until September 24.
The decision was taken after discussions with the government and assurances regarding the workers’ demands.
The union will decide its next course of action after another meeting with the government scheduled for September 24. The workers’ representatives have expressed hope for a positive response from the government during the meeting.
