Punjab Police reacts strongly to social media reports on avoiding wearing uniform, read details

Chandigarh, September 22, 2026: Punjab Police has reacted strongly to social media reports suggesting that Police officials have been told to avoid wearing uniform.
It is worth mentioning here that these reports had cited a tweet of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring who had claimed that such advisory has been issued.
Punjab Police has issue clarification in this regard.

Punjab Police Headquarters or any other Punjab Police office under it has issued no advisory directing police personnel to:
• Avoid wearing uniform while going to or returning from duty
• Wear civilian clothes while commuting to/from duty
Such messages circulating on social media are fake and should be ignored.
Citizens and police personnel are advised to rely only on official channels for authentic information.
