Mohali (Punjab), September 22, 2026: Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ in Mohali, where he targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government over the drug issue and urged people to unite against drug abuse.
The yatra, organised under the leadership of Mohali district BJP president Sanjeev Vashisht, held public meetings at Phase 11 and the Ramlila Ground in Phase 1 before proceeding towards Kharar and Chamkaur Sahib.
Addressing the gatherings, Sood claimed that Delhi voters had rejected AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and alleged that Kejriwal had come to Punjab after being politically sidelined in Delhi. He further alleged that Kejriwal was interested in maintaining a “luxurious lifestyle” rather than addressing Punjab’s problems.
Sood said Punjab, known as the land of the Gurus, was facing a serious drug problem and called for society to rise above political differences to protect the state’s youth from drugs.
He alleged that successive governments in Punjab had failed to adequately address the drug problem and claimed that the BJP had taken strict action against gangsters in Uttar Pradesh. He said similar action would be taken against drug networks in Punjab if the BJP came to power.
Vashisht said the participation of people in the yatra showed growing public concern over drugs. He said the BJP would continue its campaign across Punjab to mobilise public support against drug abuse.
Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon, state vice-president Dr Subhash Sharma, treasurer Sukhwinder Singh Goldy, general secretary Parminder Singh Brar, Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, Satwinder Satti and other senior BJP leaders and workers participated in the programme.
