Chandigarh University athletes win three of India’s four Asian Games Gold medals

Chandigarh, September 26, 2026: Athletes from Chandigarh University have contributed to three of India’s four gold medals won so far at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, with medals coming in the 10m air pistol mixed team event and both men’s and women’s kabaddi.
Chandigarh University has four athletes in India’s two gold-winning kabaddi teams. University athlete Pushpa Rana captained the Indian women’s team, which defeated Iran 37-34 in the final to retain its Asian Games title.
The Indian men’s kabaddi team also won gold after defeating Iran 39-35 in the final. Chandigarh University athletes Pawan Sehrawat, Aslam Inamdar and Ashu Malik were part of the gold-medal-winning squad.
The university’s Suruchi Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, accounting for the third gold involving Chandigarh University athletes.
According to the university, a 24-member contingent from Chandigarh University is competing across 12 sports at the 2026 Asian Games.
Chandigarh University Chancellor and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu congratulated the athletes and said the performance was a matter of pride for the university. He also highlighted Chandigarh University’s previous achievements in the Khelo India University Games and the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy.
