Raises Religious Conversion Issue in Ludhiana

Ludhiana (Punjab), September 28, 2026: Bageshwar Dham Baba, Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, expressed concern over drug abuse among Punjab’s youth and also raised the issue of religious conversion while addressing devotees during his ongoing Hanumant Katha in Ludhiana.
Speaking at the religious gathering at the GLADA Ground on Chandigarh Road, Shastri said the biggest concern facing Punjab was its young generation moving towards drugs. He appealed to youngsters to stay away from intoxicants and focus on building their future.
He also questioned the trend of young people consuming alcohol and other intoxicants, urging them to reconsider habits that could lead them towards addiction.
Speaking about children and their achievements, Shastri said parents should aspire to see their sons and daughters achieve distinction in life. Referring to the example of an IAS officer, he expressed the hope that daughters from Punjab would achieve such positions that their parents would be recognised through their children's accomplishments.
Raises Religious Conversion Concern
Shastri also raised concerns over religious conversion in Punjab, alleging that foreign forces were involved in conversions taking place in the state.
He appealed to people to remain alert about the issue and stressed the importance of preserving their religious identity and traditions. During his remarks, he also referred to Sikh men wearing turbans while discussing religious conversion.
The remarks came during Shastri's five-day Hanumant Katha in Ludhiana, being held at the GLADA Ground from September 26 to 30. A large number of devotees have been attending the religious programme.
