Breaking: Amit Shah to address BJP’s Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra finale in Jalandhar on Sept 30

Jalandhar (Punjab), September 29, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address the concluding rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 13-day ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ in Jalandhar on Wednesday, September 30, marking the culmination of the party’s statewide anti-drug campaign.
The rally will be held in the Paragpur area along NH-44, where the BJP has made arrangements across a large site for the event and parking. The party expects supporters from across Punjab to attend, with more than 2,000 buses reportedly being arranged to transport participants. The attendance figures are BJP estimates.
The four yatras, launched from Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka and Talwandi Sabo between September 18 and 21, have collectively covered around 4,000 km and all 117 Assembly constituencies before converging in Jalandhar.
The first yatra was flagged off from Madhopur in Pathankot by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, while the other three were launched from Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka and Talwandi Sabo by senior BJP leaders. The campaign has focused on the party’s anti-drug messaging across Punjab.
The yatra has also remained in the political spotlight, with protests reported at some locations and a war of words between the BJP and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party over the campaign. BJP leaders have described the yatra as a public movement against drugs, while the campaign is also taking place ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
BJP leaders have said the conclusion of the yatra will not mark the end of the party’s anti-drug campaign. The party has also said that families affected by drug abuse are expected to participate in the concluding rally.
With Shah scheduled to address the Jalandhar gathering, Wednesday’s event is set to be the culmination of the BJP’s 13-day statewide outreach on the drug issue and one of the party’s major public programmes in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
