Chandigarh, October 4, 2026: Former Punjab Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal has raised issue of inconvenience to public during Marathon in Chandigarh.
He tagged UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, DGP and SSP Chandigarh on his social media post highlighting problem to the public at large.
He said that sudden Curfew in northern sectors of Chandigarh for some Marathon - which is invisible so far. Horrible and disgraceful traffic mismanagement by police. All Roads blocked. Both sides. Nobody can cross Matka Chowk, GMHS Chowk, PEC Chowk and other road crossings down the Madhya Marg towards north. Asked to park car at PEC and go on foot to Lok Bhawan / Golf Club, many miles. Both sides of roads closed. Such things don’t happen for even PM visits. Mindlessness. Marathons should be run on one side of the road. Such nonsense has been seen in Chandigarh first time in 50 years- though hundreds of marathons have been held earlier.
He said that he was returning home after failing to reach lake side from any route for 45 minutes
