BSF invites applications for 7 Law Officer Grade-II / Deputy Commandant posts

New Delhi, October 10, 2026: The Border Security Force (BSF), under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, has invited applications for seven vacancies for the post of Law Officer Grade-II / Deputy Commandant in its Law Cadre.
The appointments will be made on deputation, absorption or re-employment basis. The posts carry Pay Level 11, with a salary ranging from ₹67,700 to ₹2,08,700 under the pay matrix.
Eligibility Criteria
Serving BSF officers with an LL.B. degree and five years of Group A service, including at least three years of experience in legal matters, are eligible to apply.
Officers serving in Central, State or Union Territory governments must hold an analogous post or have five years of regular service in Pay Level 10. They must also possess an LL.B. degree from a recognised university and at least six years of experience in legal matters.
Eligible armed forces personnel due for retirement or transfer to the reserve within one year may also be considered for deputation or re-employment, subject to the prescribed qualifications.
Age Limit and Training
Applicants must meet the SHAPE-I medical standard. The maximum age limit for deputation is 56 years as of the closing date for receipt of applications.
Candidates selected from civil posts or the Bar will be required to undergo 24 weeks of basic training.
