To sculpt a head of hair with scissors is an art form. It’s in pursuit of art. I personally believe hair styling is an art that takes a lot of skill, patience and experience to flourish.
They say, “Good hair speaks louder than words” and that’s what prompted me to start from some basic haircuts to at present, mastering profuse complex hair styles.
Hello, I am Rajesh Kumar also known as Raj Kaushal, a professional hair stylist with a total of twelve year of hair styling experience. Born and brought up in Amritsar, I am Himachali by nature. I am currently pursuing my dream job in Chandigarh.
Talking about my educational qualifications, I have studied till Senior Secondary level. I vividly remember, after my 12th standard, I started working with my father and this is from where my journey initiated.
I had always dreamt of working in big salons. So, to finally turn my wish into a reality I moved away to Delhi, where I got the first job of my life in Ambika. I worked here for about 2 years until, I finally realised that I wanted some big change in my life.
Eventually, this search for change brought me to Chandigarh and I started working for LOOKS in Sector-17 and got to gain more experience from here for the next big 7 years of my life.
My first ever celebrity client was Gurdaas Maan Sir and just because of Sir, people started knowing me and my work. This not only made me happy but further escalated the yearn for working with more & more celebrities.
When I met him for the very first time, he asked for my name, to which I replied, “Rajesh”, he responded midway, “Raj ?” This is exactly from where my name came. Rajesh ultimately became Raj and this marked another turning point of my journey. At present, It’s been 8 years of working with him.
Hereafter, I got to work with Afsana Khan Mam and again because of her I got a lot more recognition. Till today, I am so much thankful to both Mam and Gurdaas Maan Saab for giving me the identification in the Punjabi industry.
After 7 years at Looks, I joined Hairmasters and it’s been a year since I have come here. Presently as well, I am working here at Hairmasters.

In the long run, I have interacted and worked with many other stars. To name a few of them, Atif Aslam, Astha Gill, Gurshabd, Shipra Goyal, RiCo, Kulwinder Billa, Himanshi Khurana, Mankirat Aulakh, Harp Farmer, Mannat Noor, DJ Frenzi, Rakhi Sawant, Rupinder Handa, Rehmat Rattan, Gurick Maan, Singaa, Satinder Satti. As such there is no celebrity I haven’t worked with. My experience with all the artists, as a stylist, so far has been very heart warming.
I am fully contented with my work and where I have reached today. Even during the initial days, I never dreamt about success instead I have always worked for it.
What makes me different from the other stylists in the market is that I properly consult my clients regarding what is required and what we need to create, keeping their face structure in mind. I have a very friendly nature, which not only strengthens my connection with the clients but also prompts them to stay connected with me.
As a stylist, I believe I have the responsibility and trust of my clients to make them feel as well as look perfect. Thus, for me success is when I see my clients smile and gratify, once I am done styling their hair and giving them a new look altogether.
I love to work with hair and I am on a path to mastery. I have a strong desire to attend the MasterClass of Widal Suzan, based in London, who is well-renowned for starting hair creativity. I have never got any chance to attend any of his classes, therefore to explore more and to stand out in my field, I want to join his class and learn more from the master himself.
Moreover, I have previously taken trainings at Dubai, Istanbul.
My message to all the beginners would be to Think Big, Big eventually happens. Things do take time but one fine day, they do turn real. Keep working till you have reached where you always wanted to be.
I have always followed one motto throughout my life, ‘Do it with passion or not at all.’ It took me 12 years to be here and a lot of struggles. But today I am thankful for each and every hard time I had as it has finally shaped me & my skills.
Still, I am working hard with each passing day to achieve more because I don’t believe in stopping.
I hope your day be as nice as your hair.
