Lions Club Ferozepur conducts Free Eye Camp: 180 screened, 12 referred for surgery
Ferozepur, March 12 2025: Lions Club Ferozepur City, in collaboration with Shankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana, organized a free eye check-up and operation camp at Lions Bhawan. A team of dedicated expert ophthalmologists, including Dr. Monika Singh, Gurjot Singh, Shatakshil Adarsh Pathania, Gurpreet Singh, and Dilraj Singh, conducted comprehensive eye examinations and provided personalized advice on eye care.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about eye health and the importance of early detection of vision problems among children and adults. The camp was presided over by Lion Adv. Gurmeet Singh Sandhu (President) and attended by dedicated members, including Gagan Aggarwal (Secretary), Lion Iqbal Chugh (Treasurer), Lion Rajesh Malhotra (PRO), and other Lions Club members. The project was managed by MJF Lion Ashwani Sharma and Lion Anand Goyal.
During the camp, a total of 180 patients were screened. In addition to eye check-ups, their blood pressure and sugar levels were also tested. Following the screening, 12 patients were selected for cataract surgery and referred to Shankara Hospital in Ludhiana. These patients will be transported to Ludhiana for the operation and brought back to Ferozepur post-surgery.
Dr. Monika Singh thanked the Lions Club for organizing the camp and utilizing the services of Shankara Eye Hospital for the benefit of the community. She emphasised the need to treat eye diseases as they could otherwise lead to complications such as loss of sight and inferiority complex.
Expressing gratitude to the medical team, President Lion Sandhu honored the doctors with a token of appreciation. Enthusiastic participation was also seen among the children of Lions Club members, who assisted at the registration counter. Throughout the camp, patients were served tea and biscuits, followed by a ‘Langar’ meal.
