Virtual inauguration of 5 Dialysis Units by Health Minister in Ferozepur - A step towards accessible healthcare
Ferozepur, March 28, 2025: In a significant healthcare initiative, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated five new dialysis machines at Ferozepur Civil Hospital through an online event. The dialysis unit, set up by Hans Foundation, will provide free dialysis and medicines to needy patients.

Dialysis plays a crucial role in managing kidney failure, a condition in which the kidneys can no longer effectively filter waste and excess fluids from the blood. Without timely dialysis, patients face severe health complications, including organ failure and increased risk of mortality. The establishment of free dialysis units, like the one at Ferozepur Civil Hospital, ensures that underprivileged patients receive critical treatment without financial burden, ultimately improving their quality of life and overall survival rates.
Dr. Balbir Singh also virtually inaugurated dialysis units in three district hospitals across Punjab, established with the support of Hans Foundation. During the event, he held discussions with officials to enhance healthcare services. The inauguration was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, AAP leader Iqbal Singh (Chairman), Himanshu Thakkar, and Alvin Bhatti, among others, who expressed gratitude to Hans Foundation and the Health Minister for this initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur emphasized the increasing cases of kidney-related diseases due to diabetes and high blood pressure. She urged people to undergo timely checkups to prevent kidney damage. She highlighted that the newly established dialysis unit would offer free dialysis and medicines to underprivileged patients.
Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Gurmez Ram Goraya and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Nikhil Gupta stated that with the addition of these machines, patients in need of dialysis will no longer face long waiting times, ensuring timely treatment for better health.
The event was also attended by District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma, PA Vikas Kalra , Rajneesh Sharma, Harmeet Singh Khai, Gulshan Gakhar (Block President), Mohit Bansal, Manpreet Singh, and staff from Hans Foundation.
